MPA Concentration in Criminal Justice Administration

The primary objective of the program concentration in Criminal Justice Administration is to provide advanced education in administration and policy analysis to persons already employed in agencies in the criminal justice process. The program concentration addresses the educational needs of those with specialized, technical, or liberal arts degrees, and others with limited or outdated education or training in administration. It examines contemporary developments in criminal justice administration, focusing on the interdependence between pre-prosecutorial and post-prosecutorial agencies and functions, and the linkage between administration and policy.


MPA Concentration in Educational Administration

The UM-Flint WebPlus Weekend/Online Program in Educational Administration is designed to provide a high-quality experience to full-time, working educators. A unique blend of face-to-face interaction and convenient online coursework provides teachers, administrators, and aspiring administrators the tools and concepts necessary for successful administration and an informed perspective on the range of problems confronting K-12 education. Monthly Saturday visits on the Flint campus are combined with coursework that can be done from the convenience of a home computer connected to the Internet. In addition, a clinical experience is organized in the student’s current school setting. The MPA concentration in Educational Administration is approved by the Michigan Department of Education for Principal Preparation.


MPA General Program

The MPA general program is designed to provide advanced education in administration for persons employed in the public or nonprofit sectors, as well as for those seeking entry into careers in administration. This interdisciplinary program addresses the educational needs of those with specialized, technical, or liberal arts degrees, and those seeking to expand or update their administrative education. The program is comprised of faculty and courses in political science, economics, health care, education, criminal justice, sociology, and psychology.


MPA Concentration in Health Care Administration

The program concentration in Health Care Administration, offered in collaboration with the School of Health Professions and Studies, provides advanced education in administration and policy analysis primarily to persons employed within the health care field. It addresses the educational needs of those with specialized, technical, or liberal arts degrees, as well as others with limited or outdated education or training in administration. Focusing on contemporary developments in health care administration, the program concentration prepares students to deal with the complex tasks and challenges of today’s health care system.


MPA Concentration in Administration of Nonprofit Agencies

The concentration in Administration of Nonprofit Agencies is designed principally to serve those who seek advancement in careers in the not-for-profit sector. The concentration will also serve, and may be appropriate for, those with bachelor’s degrees but no current or previous relevant employment. The Nonprofit Administration option might be of particular interest to those with undergraduate degrees in business, communication, economics, health care, political science, psychology, social work, or sociology.
