Graduate Readmission

Graduate students who have been inactive (i.e., not registered for at least one course) for the past twelve months will be placed in “Inactive” status and will be prohibited from registering for any courses. A student who wishes to be readmitted into a UM-Flint graduate program must apply for readmission.

Forms are available in the links below or at the right or by contacting the Office of Graduate Programs at (810) 762-3171 or gp@umflint.edu. Completed applications should be submitted to: UM-Flint, Office of Graduate Programs, 251 Thompson Library, Flint, MI 48502-1950.

International students applying for readmission and who need an F-1 visa need to submit new financial documentation.

Rackham School of Graduate Studies Programs

Students admitted to a Rackham School of Graduate Studies program (currently the MLS in American Culture and MPA programs) use the Rackham Application Form for Readmission, Change of Field, or Dual Degree.  If you also need to request an extension of time to complete your degree, you must also submit a Petition for Modification or Waiver of Regulation.

All Other UM-Flint Graduate Programs

Inactive students in non-Rackham graduate programs must submit the Application Form for Readmission to the Office of Graduate Programs.
