Step 1 - Locate Your MAC Address:

1. Click on the Spotlight icon in the upper right hand corner of the screen (looks like a magnifying glass).

2. Type Network Utility in the Spotlight search field.

3. Click Network Utility in the Spotlight search results.

4. In the Network Utility window, select Network Interface (en1) from the Network Interface drop down menu.

5. Verify the Network Interface Model describes your selection as a wireless network adapter. If it does not, return to step 3 and select a different network interface.

6. The MAC address is listed as the Hardware Address located in the Interface Information field. You will need this information for Step 2.

Step 2 - Register Your MAC Address Through SIS:

The following steps are to be completed on a computer already connected to the internet:

1. Navigate to https://sis.umflint.edu in your web browser.

2. Click the button labeled Click Here to Enter SIS.

3. Click the Enter Secure Area link.

4. Enter your SIS Login information and press Login.

5. Click the Personal Information link.

6. Click the My Campus Computer Account Link.

7. Click the Register Wireless Device Link.

8. Enter the MAC Address (found in Step 1) and press the Update Mac Address button.

9. Press EXIT  to close your SIS session. Your MAC Address has now been registered with SIS.

Step 3 - Configure Wireless Network Settings:

1. Press the Wireless Icon in the upper right hand corner of the screen (the icon looks like a tornado).

2. Click Open Network Preferences on the wireless menu.

3. Click the Location drop down menu.

4. Click Edit Locations from the Location drop down menu.

5. Click the + symbol to add a new location.

6. Enter a name under which to save your settings for the UM Flint network (ex. umflint).

7. Press Done.

8. Click AirPort on the connections panel.

9. Click Advanced in the network settings window.

10. Click + below the AirPort settings menu.

11. Enter UMF_BASIC in the Network Name field.

12. Click Add.

13. Click the + again (below the AirPort settings menu).

14. Enter 80211net in the Network Name field.

15. Click Add.  Do not close this window as Step 4 resumes from this location.

Step 4 - Configure Proxy Settings:

1. Click the Proxies tab.

2. From the Configure Proxies drop down menu click Using a PAC File.

3. In the PAC File URL field enter: http://cache.umflint.edu/cache.pac

Your wireless network settings are now configured. To browse the internet, you may now launch your internet browser. When prompted for your username and password, enter your uniquename@umflint.edu and LAN password.
