A blog is a webpage comprised of usually short, frequently updated items and web links. Blogging is a publishing tool that can be used for many purposes: traditional journalism, personal journals, group discussions around a topic, and many combinations between.
Anyone can create a blog using one of the many free blog hosting sites. ITS provides University of Michigan - Flint faculty and staff with free blog hosting via
http://blogs.umflint.edu. Currently, students are not elgible to make a blog on this website, but ITS hopes to expand the scope of the blog pilot to include students in future semesters. Full details about the blog pilot are available at

Any faculty or staff member may vist
http://blogs.umflint.edu to create blog. The number of blogs thatyou can create at this site is not limited, but you should only make a blog if you intend to keep it up to date. To make a blog, go to the webvsite address given above and click on "Login". Once you have logged in using your uniqname and LAN password, you will be prompted to enter the name of your blog. And then voila, you're blogging! To make additional blogs, return to
http://blogs.umflint.edu onece you have logged in and click on the "Create Blog" link. Do
NOT try to create a new username, because it will not work. If you click on the "Create Blog" link before logging in, you will be asked to create a username. return to the blogs homepage and log in,
then try to make a new blog.
