1. Click on the Spotlight icon in the upper right hand corner of the screen (looks like a magnifying glass).

2. Type System Preferences in the Spotlight search field.

3. Click System Preferences in the Spotlight Search Results.

4. Click Network under the Internet & Network section of System Preferences.

5. Click the + symbol below the network connections pane.

6. Click the Interface drop down menu on the interface selection menu.

7. Click VPN on the Interface drop down menu.

8. Click the VPN Type drop down menu on the interface selection menu.

9. Click PPTP on the VPN Type drop down menu.

10. Enter a name for the VPN connection in the Service Name field (ex umflint-vpn).

11. Click Create on the interface selection menu.

12. Enter remote.umflint.edu in the Server Address field.

13. Enter your uniqename@umflint.edu in the Acount Name field.

14. Make sure the Show VPN status in menu bar option is checked for easy access to VPN connections.

16. Click the X to exit Network Preferences.

Connecting to the VPN:

1. Click the VPN icon on the menubar.

2. Click Connect umflint-vpn on the VPN menu.

3. Enter your LAN password in the Please enter your password field.

4. Click OK on the Internet Connect dialog.

5. Once connected, a timer next to the VPN Icon will show how long you have been connected to the VPN.

Disconnecting from the VPN:

1. Click the VPN icon on the menubar.

2. Click Disconnect umflint-vpn on the VPN menu.

3. Once disconnected, the timer next to the VPN Icon will disappear.
