If you are connecting from home you will need to be connected to the UMF VPN in order to access the information in this drive.
There are two options for connecting to Progdata while on campus:
Option 1:
- Type progdata.umflint.edu into your browser address bar
- This will bring up a listing of all of the folders on Progdata
- In this window scoll down to find your professor or departments folder
- Click the folder to access the contents of the folder.
Option 2 Using FileZilla Directions for downloading and installing FileZilla can be found here: http://www.umflint.edu/helpdesk/articles/121
After downloading and installing FileZilla you can follow the steps below for accessing progdata with the FileZilla Client.
- Open FileZilla
- In the Host field type progdata.umflint.edu
- In the Login field type your Uniqname@umflint.edu
- In the Password field type your LAN password.
- Leave the Port field empty.
- Click QuickConnect.
- You should now see 4 boxes with different information in each of them. The boxes on the left are on your local computer and the boxes on the right are the file trees and folders on progdata.
- You will now search the bottom right box for the folder you are looking for and then the document within that folder. To go back to the last folder at any point click the folder named ".. " in the top of the bottom right box.
- Once you have located the file you need on the right go to the top left square and choose where the location where you are coping the information to. (The Desktop is always a good starting ground)
- Click to highlight the destination location in the top right box.
- Now click and hold the document you would like from the bottom right and drag it to the bottom left.
- Release the mouse.
- Your file should now be on your desktop.
Option 3:
Mapping the Progdata Drive to your computer as a Network Drive.
- Click the Start Orb in the bottom left corner of your screen.
- Click Computer.
- Click Map Network Drive in the the window.
- In the new window select an open drive letter. If P: is available it is suggested to use this but if it is not available any of the letters will work.
- Next to folder type \\deptdrive.umflint.edu\progdata.
- Uncheck the box next to Reconnect at Login.
- Click Finish.
- Click the Start Menu in the bottom left corner of your screen
- Click My Computer
- Click Tools
- Click Map Network Drive
- In the new window select an open drive letter If P: is available it is suggested to use this but if it is not available any of the letters will work.
- Next to folder type \\deptdrive.umflint.edu\progdata.
- Uncheck the box next to Reconnect at Login.
- Click Finish.
Now you should see the drive listed with all of your other drives in the computer window. This will open a different window with a cleaner user interface.
