BasicsA wireless LAN is one in which a mobile user can connect to a local area network (LAN) through a wireless (radio) connection. Current UM-Flint students or employees are entitled to receive access to the UM-Flint Wireless Network using their laptop computer.Do We Have a Wireless Network at UM-Flint? Yes, the UM-Flint wireless network is compliant with and supports IEEE 802.11b compatible wireless cards. We highly recommend Cisco Aironet 350 Series PCMCIA Wireless LAN Adapter. This card is compatible with the following operating systems: WIN 95, WIN98, WIN XP, NT 4.0, ME, CE, 2000; MAC OS 9.x and Linux.

Where is the Wireless Network Accessible From? Wireless accessibility is available throughout campus to the Murchie Science Building, French Hall, Theatre, Pavilion, University Center, Thompson Library, and William S. White Building. Additional bonus coverage is also available outside of these buildings and in many office areas.

What Can I Access When I am Connected to the Wireless Network? When you are connected into the wireless network you are able to access the Internet, Email, Progdata, and your H Drive.
