Follow this quicknote to connect a Windows Vista based system to the housing wireless network.

Installing the Persistent Security Agent:

The Persistent Security Agent will be provided by ITS.
  1. Double-click the PersistentSecurityAgent.msi setup file.

  2. Click Next to continue setup.

  3. Click Finish to complete setup.

  4. Restart your computer.

Configuring Network Settings:

  1. Click the Start button.

  2. Click Network on the start menu.

  3. Click Network and Sharing Center.

  4. Click Manage wireless networks in Tasks list.

  5. Click Add in the Manage Wireless Networks menu.

  6. Click Manually create a network profile in the network connection wizard.

  7. Enter UMF_HOUSING_RESIDENT in the Network name field.
  8. Select WPA2-Enterprise in the Security type drop down menu.
  9. Select AES in the Encryption type drop down menu.
  10. Click Next on the network configuration wizard.

  11. Click Change connection settings in the network connection wizard.

  12. Click the Security tab in the connection properties menu.

  13. Click Settings in the Security tab.

  14. Uncheck the Validate server certificate checkbox.
  15. Click the Configure button in the Select Authentication Method section.

  16. Uncheck the Automatically use my Windows logon name and password (and domain if any) checkbox.
  17. Click OK in the EAP MSCHAPv2 Properties dialog.
  18. Click OK in the Protected EAP properties menu.

  19. Click OK in the Network properties menu.

  20. Click Close in the network connection wizard.

Authenticating the Connection:

  1. Click the Wireless Network Connection balloon to initiate the authentication process.

  2. Enter your uniquename in the User name field.
  3. Enter your LAN password in the Password field.
  4. Enter FLINT-NT in the Logon domain field.
  5. Click OK.

  6. Enter your uniquename in the User name field.
  7. Enter your LAN password in the Password field.
  8. Click Login.

  9. Click Close to complete the authentication process.

You are now connected to the housing wireless network.
