What is my LAN password?
Your LAN password is your Local Area Network password and is used to access the following items:
Webmail, Blackboard, Campus Computers, Uniprint Stations, Wireless Access, and EZ-Proxy


To Change Your LAN Password:
The LAN password guidelines require a length of at least eight characters and enabled password filtering to disallow commonly used passwords ( "password" or "thisismypassword").

If you type your password incorrectly three times, your LAN account will be locked. Please contact the ITS HelpDesk for assistance unlocking your account. Otherwise, your account will automatically unlock in 30 minutes.

Option 1: Change Password within Internet Service Manager.

  1. The password change site can be found at: https://mail.umflint.edu/iisadmpwd/aexp2b.asp

  2. Type in your Outlook Account information as follows:
  3. For Domain, enter umflint.edu or FLINT-NT, either will work.
  4. For Uniqname enter your uniqname.
  5. For Old Password, enter your current LAN password.
  6. For New Password, enter your new LAN password.
  7. For Confirm New Password, retype your new password.
  8. Click Ok. A box will pop up if you password was successfully changed.


Option 2: On-Campus (Faculty and Staff Only).

  1. Once you have logged in, Click the Crtl, Alt , and Del keys at the same time

  2. Press the Change Password button in the bottom-left corner.
  3. Type in your LAN password information as follows:
    1. Select FLINT-NT in the log on to field.
    2. For Old Password, enter your current LAN password.
    3. For New password, enter your new password.
    4. For Confirm New Password, retype your new password and press the key.


Option 3: Change Password through SIS (Students Only)
This method will change both LAN and Kerberos password.
You must follow Kerberos restrictions as well to set your password this way.

  1. Go to SIS, https://sis.umflint.edu.

  2. Login to SIS with either your SSN or UMID and your SIS password. If you do not know your SIS PIN, please see the related articles of this webpage.
  3. Click on Personal Information.
  4. Go to My Campus Computer Account.
  5. Click on Change LAN & Kerberos Password.
  6. You will be prompted to enter New Password and you will have to confirm it in Confirm New Password.

  7. Click on Change Password.

Changing your password in this manner will change BOTH your LAN password (used for logging into computers on campus, email, and Blackboard) and your Kerberos/Ann Arbor password (accessing Mirlyn, and editing your UMICH directory entry). If you wish to change ONLY your LAN password please follow Option 1, Option 2, or stop by the ITS HelpDesk with a picture ID

Option 4: Bringing Picture ID to the Helpdesk
You can also come to any of the ITS Open Computer Labs (3174 WSW, 205FH, 206 MSB) or the Housing HelpDesk with a picture ID and we can assist you with changing your password. (See www.umflint.edu/helpdesk for the current semester hours)
