This quicknote explains what your SIS pin is and how to change it.
SIS PasswordThe SIS pin is a six character password that is used specifically for the Student Information Services (SIS) page.
When your account is first made you password is set at your six digit birthday (mmddyy).
After you log in for the first time the system will force you to change your pin. The only requirement for the SIS pin is that it must be exactly six characters long.
SIS also keeps a memory of your old passwords, so you cannot use the same password twice.
Option 1 If you do not know your SIS pin you can come into 207 MSB or 3174 WSW with a picture ID or call the Helpdesk at (810)766-6804 and answer a few security questions to verify ID with us.
Current hours for these Helpdesks can be found at www.umflint.edu/helpdeskAccording to the new campus policy we can no longer reset passwords over the phone unless absolutley necessary. We also can never reset a password through email.
If the option to change a password over the phone is chosen you will need to make sure all of your information within SIS is up to date. If we are unable to verify ID over the phone, then you will have to come in or go and update all of your information on SIS and then call us back.
Option 2 The first time you set your SIS pin, it will ask if you want to set a security question.
Although it is recommended you don't have to setup the security question at this time though.
If you did set up your security question you can choose to answer the question and then if you answer it correctly it will bring you to a screen to reset your pin.
However, if you get the answer wrong your it will count as a password attempt. Three attempts and your SIS account will be disabled. You will need to call the helpdesk to enable it at (810)766-6804.
