This Quicknote details how to connect the iPhone and iPod Touch to the wireless network at the university.

Please follow the steps below to Configure your iPod Touch or iPhone to UMF_SECURE

At some point during the setup process, every phone seems to do it at a different time, you may be asked to verify a security certificate.  Please verify this certificate as it is part of what will allow you to connect to the network.If you have any questions at any point during the set-up process below please visit any ITS computer lab for assistance.  Hours and Locations are located at www.umflint.edu/helpdesk.

  1. Tap the settings button on the main screen of your iPod.

  2. Next tap the Wi-Fi button on the settings screen.

  3. Next turn the Wi-Fi network on by tapping

  4. Next select UMF_SECURE from the list of detected networks.

  5. Click the Arrow next to UMF_SECURE
  6. Scroll to the bottow of the UMF_SECURE Screen and choose Auto for the HTTP Proxy

  7. Then type http://cache.umflint.edu/cache.pac for the URL
  8. Now when you access the internet with Safari on your iPhone or iPod touch an authentication screen will come up
  9. On the authentication screen type your full email address (uniqname@umflint.edu) and your LAN password.
  10. Click Log In

You should now be able to access the internet with Safari on your iPhone or iPod touch .
