Before You BeginPlease be aware that ONLY Faculty and Staff are able to configure this spam filter. 

Students use a different version of Outlook Web Access and will be unable to configure this rule.  Students needing to configure a spam filter will need to do so using the application version of Outlook. 

If you are a student and do not have the application version of Outlook on your personal computer you can configure a spam filter using a computer in any of the 3 open labs on campus.   1. Click Options found in the upper righthand corner of the screen

  2. Click Rules found in the options toolbar.

  3. Click the drop down tab labeled New Rule

  4. Select Create a new rule for arriving messages

  5. Under After the messages arrives, click If the message includes specific words…. 
  6. Check the box that says In the message header

  7. Click on the link Specific words
  8. In the textbox type X-Spam-Flag: YES

  10. Click OK

  11. Click Move, copy,or delete... found under the section entitled move the message to specified folder
  12. Click Specified link and
  13. Select the Junk Email folder
