Connecting to the Housing Wireless Network:

  1. Click the wireless icon on the menu bar.

  2. Click Open Network Preferences.

  3. Click Edit Locations on the Location drop down menu.

  4. Click the Add Location (+) button.

  5. Enter a name for the housing location (ex. umflint-housing).
  6. Click Done.

  7. Click on AirPort on the adapters list.

  8. Click Advanced on the Network preferences pane.

  9. Click the add network (+) button.

  10. Enter UMF_HOUSING_RESIDENT in the Network Name field.
  11. Select WPA2 ENTERPRISE from the Security drop down menu.

  12. Enter your uniquename in the User Name field.
  13. Enter your LAN password in the Password field.
  14. Click Add.

  15. Click OK in the advanced settings pane.

  16. Click Apply in the Network preference pane.

  17. Click the wireless icon on the menu bar and select UMF_HOUSING_RESIDENT

  18. Click Show Certificate on the Verify Certificate dialog.

  19. Check the Always trust "securelogin.arubanetworks.com" checkbox on the Verify Certificate dialog.
  20. Cick Continue on the Verify Certificate dialog.

  21. Enter your uniquename in the User Name field.
  22. Enter your LAN password in the password field.
  23. Click OK on the 802.1x Authentication dialog.

  24. Click Safari (or your web browser of choice) on the dock.

You are now connected to the housing wireless network.

Configuring Your Browser
Safari

When using Safari on a Mac OS you do not need to do anything with the browser.  Configuring the location will allow for Safari to connect properly.

Firefox 
  1. Open Firefox
  2. Click Firefox - found in the top left of the window
  3. Click Preferences
  4. Click Advanced
  5. Click the Network Tab
  6. Click Settings
  7. Select Automatic Proxy Configuration URL
  8. Type http://cache.umflint.edu/cache.pac
