Email Encryption at UM-Flint

The following quicknote will provide information to Students, Faculty, and Staff here at UM-Flint about email encryption here on campus.

The Uniprint printing solutions in these locations are being replaced by the PaperCut printing solution.  The directions in this document will assist you in using this new printing solution with your personal laptop.


This quicknote will assist any University of Michigan-Flint Facutly, Staff, or Student in using the new print queuing  program called PaperCut.  PaperCut is replacing the previous Uniprint printing system.

This quicknote is for use in setting up a VPN connection at home using Ubuntu (Debian) Linux

This quicknote will assist faculty, staff, and students of UM-Flint in forwarding their @umflint.edu email to another e-mail address.
Please Note:  When you choose to forward your mail out of your UM-Flint email account you are taking all responsibility for loss of mail in the process.  Loss of mail can occasionally happen and you should decide whether you are willing to take this risk prior to forwarding your e-mail to another account.

The following is a copy of the new password change policy for the University of Michigan-Flint. 
Please note that this policy does not effect your ability to change your own password through the password change site, SIS, or Wolverine Access.  The policy is for if you have forgotten your password and cannot reset it yourself.


This quicknote is designed to assist Faculty Staff and Students in using the Microsoft Office Communicator Web Access.

Microsoft Office Communicator Web Access allows access to Microsoft Office Communicator from any computer that has access to the internet.

This quicknote will assist any on-campus user with installation and use of Microsoft Office Communicator.

You will need access to the L Drive (PCPub) in order to use this quicknote.

If you do not have access to PCPub because you are using a personal computer you will need to use Microsoft Office Communicator Web Access. (Quicknote Microsoft Office Communicator Web Access)

Also, most campus computers will already have Microsoft Office Communicator loaded on them.

Microsoft Office 2007 that comes with the purchase of Office 2007 from the ITS office will not be able to connect with the UMF communicator server.  In order to use Microsoft Office Communicator you will need to use the version available on PCPub or you will need to use the Web Access Version.
