    What is the Personal Directory?

    Your personal directory is space allocated on the server that is assigned to each student, faculty, or staff member. This allows you to save information at school without using disks. It is commonly referred to as the H:\Drive for students, faculty, and staff.

    What is a PDF File?

    PDF is a universal file format that preserves all of the fonts, formatting, colors, and graphics of any source document, regardless of the application and platform used to create it.

    What is an Online Class?

    Simply stated, an online class is a class that is taught on the Internet.

    What is the Mcard?

    The Mcard is an ID card for students, faculty, and staff, of the University of Michigan-Flint.

    What is a DVD-RW?

    A digital versatile disc that is rewriteable is commonly referred to as a DVD-RW.

    What is CMS?

    A CMS, or Content Management System, is a piece of software used to effectively organize and manage large amounts of digital content.  Content, in reference to the university's CMS, includes all web pages, documents, and other files made available via the university website.


    What is a CD-RW?

    A compact disc that is rewriteable is commonly referred to as a CD-RW.

    What is a Blog?

    A blog is a webpage comprised of usually short, frequently updated items and web links.  Blogging is a  publishing tool that can be used for many purposes: traditional journalism, personal journals, group discussions around a topic, and many combinations between.

    What is Banner?

    Banner is an administrative database that houses all student-related data; essentially tracking student activity from recruitment to graduation.

    What is Altiris?

    Altiris is a Desktop Management System and a tool that Information Technology Services (ITS) uses for security of campus computers, HelpDesk & DCS support of users, and inventory reporting.
