<p>Please note: All Staff and Students should use MWireless for the best wireless experience, the <strong>MGuest Network should only be used for patrons that do not have a UM-Flint Login account.</strong></p>

<h3>Connecting to the MWireless Network</h3>
<ol>
<li>In the top bar click the <strong>wireless icon.</strong> This is typically found in the top right near the clock.</li>
<li>Click <b>Join Other Network</b></li>
<li>In the new dialog box next to Network Name type <b>MWireless</b>
<ul>
<li>For the security type select <b>WPA2 Enterprise</b></li>
<li>Next to Username type your <b><a href="https://email.umflint.edu/owa/redir.aspx?C=6fd97eb4b78c490f925a29f0dc04c4c1&amp;URL=mailto%3auniqname%40umflint.edu" target="_blank">uniqname@umflint.edu</a></b></li>
<li>Next to password type your <b>LAN password</b></li>
<li>Check <b>Remember this Network</b></li>
</ul>
</li>
<li><b></b>Click <b>Join </b><i><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><br />
</span></i></li>
<li>In the Verify Certificate message box click <b>show certificate</b></li>
<li>Confirm that the box next to <strong>Always trust *.umflint.edu</strong> is checked</li>

<li>Type your computer password in the new message box</li>
<li>Click <strong>Update Settings</strong> to make changes to the Certificate Trust Settings.</li>

<p>Outlook 2011 has replaced Entourage in the Mac Office Suite for 2011.</p>
<p>This quicknote will assist you with configuring Outlook 2011 for use with the UM-Flint Exchange Server.</p>
<p>You do not need to be connected to the VPN to use Outlook 2011.</p>
<p><strong>Note:</strong> Tested and Compatible with Mac OS X 10.7 Lion.</p>

<li>Open Outlook 2011</li>
<li>Click<strong> Outlook </strong>in the top left corner</li>
<li>Click <strong>Preferences</strong></li>
<li>Click <strong>Accounts</strong>, found under Personal Settings<a href="http://www.umflint.edu/helpdesk/perm/macintosh/configuring-outlook-2011-for-um-flint-email/attachment/configuring-outlook-2011-3/" rel="attachment wp-att-4150"><br /></a></li>
<li>Click the plus sign in the bottom left corner of the screen<strong><strong></strong></strong></li>
<li>For E-mail Address type: <em>uniqname@umflint.edu</em></li>
<li>For Method select <strong>User Name and Password</strong></li>
<li>For Username type: <em>uniqname@umflint.edu</em></li>
<li>For Password type your<em> LAN Password</em></li>
<li>Check <strong>Configure Automatically</strong></li>
<li>Click <strong><strong>Add Account<br /></strong></strong></li>
<li>Wait for a few moments and the account should add.

<li>If the information box comes back asking for a server type the server address as<em> email.umflint.edu</em></li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>You should now be connected and syncing mail.  Depending on the size of your mailbox the process of syncing your mail could take 10 minutes or more.</li>

<p>After the move to Exchange 2010 Entourage will need to be upgraded to the Entourage Web Services Edition.</p>
<p><strong>Note:</strong> Tested and Compatible with Mac OS X 10.7 Lion.</p>
<h3>Step 1 &#8211; Update Office 2008</h3>
<ol>
<li>Open Entourage</li>
<li>Click Help</li>
<li>Click Check for Updates</li>
<li>Install any updates that are available for Office 2008</li>
</ol>
<h3>Step 2 &#8211; Download and Install</h3>
<ol>
<li>Open a web browser and navigate to <a href="http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=f11ec229-718e-4353-a6a7-f3b97015622f&amp;displaylang=en ">http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=f11ec229-718e-4353-a6a7-f3b97015622f&amp;displaylang=en </a></li>
<li>Download the file EWS-1308-EN.dmg</li>
<li>Install Entourage 2008 Web Services Edition</li>
<li>Follow the Installation prompts to finish the installation procedure</li>
</ol>
<h3>Step 3 &#8211; Finish Configuation and Check Entourage Settings (For users who previously had Entourage configured):</h3>
<ol>
<li>Open Entourage</li>
<li>Choose to Import from Entourage 2008 and follow the directions.</li>
<li>Importing all data from Entourage 2008 could take 10-15 minutes and maybe even longer if you have a lot of data</li>
</ol>
<p>Once the import is done you will need to check to make sure the server was updated.</p>
<ol>
<li>Open Entourage</li>
<li>Click Entourage (found in the top left of the screen)</li>
<li>Click Account Settings</li>
<li>Double Click your UM-Flint Account</li>
<li>Click Advanced</li>
<li>The Server Name is email.umflint.edu</li>
<li>Click Okay to all open windows</li>
<li>Your mail should begin syncing momentarily.  It make take 10-15 minutes for your mail to sync with the system, sometimes longer depending on the amount of mail you have.</li>
</ol>
<h3><strong>Step 3 &#8211; Configure Entourage (For users who did not previously have Entourage configured):</strong></h3>
<ol>
<li>Click the <strong>Entourage 2008</strong> icon from the dock.</li>
<li>Select <strong>“Start using Entourage without importing anything”</strong> and click the Right Arrow to continue</li>
<li>Enter your <strong>uniqname@umflint.edu</strong> in the E-mail address field and click the Right Arrow to continue.</li>
<li>Enter <strong>umflint.edu</strong> in the Domain field.</li>
<li>Enter your <strong>Uniqname</strong> in the Account ID field.</li>
<li>Enter your <strong>LAN Password</strong> in the Password field.</li>
<li>Check the <strong>“Save password in my Mac OS keychain”</strong> checkbox.</li>
<li>Click<strong> OK</strong> on the Account Confirmation box.</li>
<li>Click the <strong>Right Arrow</strong> on the Automatic Configuration Succeeded dialog</li>
<li>Enter your<strong> Name</strong> in the Name Field.</li>
<li>Click the <strong>Right Arrow</strong> in the Verify and Complete Settings Dialog box.</li>
<li>Click the <strong>Right Arrow</strong> in the Verify Settings Dialog box</li>
<li>Click the <strong>Verify </strong>button in the<strong> “Do you want to verify your account settings?”</strong> dialog.</li>
<li>Click the <strong>Right Arrow</strong> in the Verify Settings dialog.</li>
<li>Click the <strong>Finish</strong> button in the Setup Complete dialog.</li>

<h3><span style="font-size: medium;"><strong>Setting Up Mail With UM-Exchange:</strong></span></h3>
<p>Here are the directions for setting up Mac Mail with UM-Exchange</p>
<ol>
<li>Remove the current account for Exchange if there is one. The <strong>minus</strong> sign will remove the account.</li>
<li>Click the<strong> plus</strong> sign to add another account</li>
<li>Fill in the information like below.  You will use your <em>LAN password</em> for the <strong>password field</strong></li>
<li>Click <strong>Continue</strong></li>
<li>It should grab all of the information</li>
<li>Click <strong>Create</strong></li>

<p>If you are off campus, you must first connect to the VPN before attempting this Quicknote. To use the steps below you must be useing VPN Network Connect. For directions on using the VPN and the Network Connect function please reference the quicknote entitled &#8220;How to Access and Use the VPN at UM-Flint&#8221; found in the Networking and Collaboration category.</p>
<p><strong>Note:</strong> Tested and Compatible with Mac OS X 10.7 Lion.</p>
<h3>Configure Homedrive access on your Mac:</h3>
<ol>
<li>Click<strong> Finder</strong> on the dock.<br />

<li>Select the appropriate  Sophos Anti-Virus program for your computer.</li>
<li>Login using your Uniqname and your Kerberos Password</li>
</ol>
<p style="text-align: center;">*******At this point if you get a message that there is no software for you to download please contact the ITS Helpdesk at 810-766-6804 or <a href="mailto:itshelpdesk@umflint.edu">itshelpdesk@umflint.edu</a> to place a ticket to have this corrected. *********</p>

<li>After logging in a dmg file will download to your computer.</li>
<li>Double-click the <span style="font-weight: bold;">dmg</span> file to begin installation.</li>
<li>In the install window that opens, click <span style="font-weight: bold;">Continue</span>.<br /><img src="http://www.umflint.edu/helpdesk/content_images/XP/Install%20Sophos%20Anti-Virus.jpg" border="0" alt="" width="436" height="308" align="baseline" /></li>
<li>Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation.  When it asks you where to install the files make sure that your startup volume is selected (it should be selected by default) before clicking <span style="font-weight: bold;">Continue</span>.<br /><img src="http://www.umflint.edu/helpdesk/content_images/XP/Select%20a%20Destination.jpg" border="0" alt="" width="434" height="307" align="baseline" /></li>
<li>After clicking <span style="font-weight: bold;">Install </span>you will be prompted to log in.  In order to continue the installation you must be an administrator on the Mac.  If you do not have administrator rights, contact someone who does to complete the installation.</li>
<li>When a message appears saying the software was successfully installed, click <span style="font-weight: bold;">Close</span>.</li>
</ol>
<p><span class="section_header">Configuring Sophos Anti-Virus for the Proxy:</span></p>
<p><span class="bubble">This process is only required for machines on-campus.  If you are setting up Sophos on your home Mac, you do not need to complete this section.</span></p>
<ol>
<li>On the Apple menu bar click on the <span style="font-weight: bold;">Sophos Anti-Virus</span> Icon.</li>
<li>Open <span style="font-weight: bold;">Preferences</span></li>
<li>In the <span style="font-weight: bold;">Preferences Window</span>:
<ul>
<li><span style="font-weight: bold;">Unlock Window</span> (bottom left corner).</li>
<li>Choose <span style="font-weight: bold;">AutoUpdate</span>.</li>
<li>Choose <span style="font-weight: bold;">Use system proxy settings.</span></li>
</ul>
</li>
<li><span style="font-weight: bold;">Lock Window.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-weight: bold;">Exit</span>.</li>
</ol>
<p><span class="section_header">Operating Sophos Anti-Virus:</span></p>
<p>To scan a whole drive:</p>
<ol>
<li>Open Sophos Anti-Virus by clicking on the <span style="font-weight: bold;">Shield Icon</span> in the menu bar and selecting <span style="font-weight: bold;">Open Sophos Anti-Virus</span>.</li>
<li>Select the drives you wish to scan by clicking on the circle next to them (selected drives will have a green circle next to them).  Make sure all drives are selected that you wish to scan and then press the <span style="font-weight: bold;">Play</span> button (green triangle) to begin the scan.<br /><img src="http://www.umflint.edu/helpdesk/content_images/XP/Sophos%20Anti-Virus%201.jpg" border="0" alt="" width="288" height="216" align="baseline" /></li>
