Before You Begin:

Unlike most mobile devices, you cannot simply scan for the MWireless network, choose it, and enter your credentials with a Windows computer. You must manually set up MWireless with specific security settings because you are using a personal laptop that is not owned by the University of Michigan.

If MWireless is available, be sure to follow these steps to connect to MWireless instead of any Guest networks for the fastest wireless experience. Guest Networks should only be used for patrons that do not have a UM-Flint Login.

All Staff and Students should use MWireless for the best wireless experience, the MGuest network should only be used for patrons that do not have a UM-Flint Login account.

Some users will have trouble connecting even if these steps are followed correctly. This typically happens on older computers with out of date wireless card drivers. We have noticed this issue with Intel and Atheros wireless cards. The solution to this is to update the wireless drivers from the wireless card manufacturer’s website, not from Dell, HP, Toshiba, etc… You can determine what wireless card you have using the device manager. You may also want to search the web for instructions on how to complete this process.
