Changing Your U-M Online Directory Personal Entry (MCommunity)

Before you Begin:

In order to make any changes to you U-M online directory entry, you must have your uniqname and Ann Arbor (Kerberos) password. For more information on Kerberos passwords please visit the Password Quicknotes found on the bottom right of the screen at www.umflint.edu/helpdesk.

With the recent addition of M + Google ITS suggests that you go into MCommunity and update your entry to ensure delivery of important emails and requests.

To Chane your U-M Online Directory Entry:

  1. Open a web browser (Online Directory does not appear to be working well with Internet Explorer at the moment.  Firefox is the browser that Ann Arbor is suggesting for use at the moment.)
  2. Navigate to, https://mcommunity.umich.edu/ in the address bar of the web browser and press enter on the keyboard.
  3. Click Log In in the upper right corner of the window.
  4. Log in using your uniqname and Ann Arbor (Kerberos) password
    • If you are a newly admitted student it may take a full semester to be added to the U-M directory
    • New faculty/Staff members, it may take up to three months to be added to the U-M online directory
  5. Click “My Profile” in the upper right. You can now see the different types of information associated with your account.
  6. In the upper right corner of each section you can press “edit” to edit it information in each box.
  7. When finished making alterations press “save” at the bottom of the selected box.
  8. When you have completely making changes you may click the “log out” in the upper right. It will confirm your logout. If you wish to change anything more you may click “Go back” if not click ”log out”
    • If you clicked “go back” you will then have to proceed to click “log in” in the upper right and it will route you back to the midification page.

Common U-M Online Directory Changes:

You can modify your own directory information (e.g., update your address and phone number when you move or delete them if you don’t want them to appear).  Once you have edited your email adress (uniqname@umflint.edu), when others send mail to that addess it will route mail to your mailbox.

Voicemails or UMICH Emails Not Coming to Your UM-Flint Email:

This problem can be caused because email forwarding is not set up between your @umich.edu account and your @umflint.edu account. To setup email forwarding please follow the steps below:

  1. Navigate to https://mcommunity.umich.edu/  in the address bar of the web browser and press enter on the keyboard.
  2. Click Log In in the top right corner of the screen
  3. Log in using your uniqname and Ann Arbor (Kerberos) password
    • If you are a newly admitted student it may take a full semester to be added to the U-M directory
    • New faculty/Staff members, it may take up to three months to be added to the U-M online directory
  4. Click “My Profile” in the upper right. You can now see the different types of information associated with your account.
  5. Click the “Settings” Tab
  6. Check to ensure the email address listed is <your uniqname>@umflint.edu
  7. Click Save Changes.
