Configuring UM-Flint Email Account on Microsoft Entourage 2008

Before You Begin

After the move to Exchange 2010 Entourage will need to be upgraded to the Entourage Web Services Edition.

Note: Tested and Compatible with Mac OS X 10.7 Lion.

Step 1 – Update Office 2008

  1. Open Entourage
  2. Click Help
  3. Click Check for Updates
  4. Install any updates that are available for Office 2008

Step 2 – Download and Install

  1. Open a web browser and navigate to http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=f11ec229-718e-4353-a6a7-f3b97015622f&displaylang=en
  2. Download the file EWS-1308-EN.dmg
  3. Install Entourage 2008 Web Services Edition
  4. Follow the Installation prompts to finish the installation procedure

Step 3 – Finish Configuation and Check Entourage Settings (For users who previously had Entourage configured):

  1. Open Entourage
  2. Choose to Import from Entourage 2008 and follow the directions.
  3. Importing all data from Entourage 2008 could take 10-15 minutes and maybe even longer if you have a lot of data

Once the import is done you will need to check to make sure the server was updated.

  1. Open Entourage
  2. Click Entourage (found in the top left of the screen)
  3. Click Account Settings
  4. Double Click your UM-Flint Account
  5. Click Advanced
  6. The Server Name is email.umflint.edu
  7. Click Okay to all open windows
  8. Your mail should begin syncing momentarily.  It make take 10-15 minutes for your mail to sync with the system, sometimes longer depending on the amount of mail you have.

Step 3 – Configure Entourage (For users who did not previously have Entourage configured):

  1. Click the Entourage 2008 icon from the dock.
  2. Select “Start using Entourage without importing anything” and click the Right Arrow to continue
  3. Enter your uniqname@umflint.edu in the E-mail address field and click the Right Arrow to continue.
  4. Enter umflint.edu in the Domain field.
  5. Enter your Uniqname in the Account ID field.
  6. Enter your LAN Password in the Password field.
  7. Check the “Save password in my Mac OS keychain” checkbox.
  8. Click OK on the Account Confirmation box.
  9. Click the Right Arrow on the Automatic Configuration Succeeded dialog
  10. Enter your Name in the Name Field.
  11. Click the Right Arrow in the Verify and Complete Settings Dialog box.
  12. Click the Right Arrow in the Verify Settings Dialog box
  13. Click the Verify button in the “Do you want to verify your account settings?” dialog.
  14. Click the Right Arrow in the Verify Settings dialog.
  15. Click the Finish button in the Setup Complete dialog.
