What is a Mail Digest?


Mail Digest is an electronic bulletin board that is distributed to all students at UM-Flint via email. It consists of postings made by students who wish their posting to be read by anyone interested. All students are automatically subscribed to Mail Digest.

How to Subscribe/Unsubscribe to Mail Digest:

Mail digests are various mailing lists that are setup by university departments and various clubs and organizations to let the student body know of the happenings around campus.  A list of the most common mail digests can be found on the ITS website here:

Subscribing to a Mail Digest:
This is an example of how to subscribe to

  1. Navigate to
  2. Under “Subscribing to Umf_students”
    1. Type your email address (does not have to be a university email address)
    2. Sepecify a password for if you would like to alter your mail digest settings in the future
    3. Check either Yes or No for “Would you like to receive list mail batched in a daily digest? ”
      • Mail in daily digest form will collect all emails sent to the list and send them at one time to your email.
    4. Click Subscribe

Unsubscribing to a Mail Digest:

  1. Navigate to
  2. Under “Umf_students Subscribers”
    1. Enter your email address in the section under “To unsubscribe from Umf_students, get a password reminder, or change your subscription options enter your subscription email address: “
    2. Click Unsubscribe or edit options
    3. You will receive an email with details of how to unsubscribe from the particular list

How to Send a Message to Mail Digest:

  • You must be subscribed to the mail digest you are trying to send to
  • Send the message to the email address of the list you would like to send to.
    • Example: To send to UMF_Students you would type following address in the to field of your message,
  • Note: Everyone subscribed to the mail digest will receive the email.
