Honors Courses 495 and 496

1. These are independent study courses for a total of eight credits.
2. You may take them as HON 495 and 496 or as a course in your major, for example, BIO 495 and 496.
3. If you are doing a B.A. and taking these courses will put the number of credits in your major above 40 credits, you should take these courses as HON 495 and 496 so that they will count toward your degree.
4. Note: The 40/65 credit hour rule applies only to the B.A. degree. It allows you to count no more than 40 credits in your major and no more than 65 credits in any combined major and minor toward your degree. This does not prevent you from completing more than one minor.
5. This rule does not apply to the B.S. degree.
6. Until your thesis is completed and fully revised as requested by your advisor, your readers, and the honors director, you receive a Y Grade which indicates work in progress and does not count as an incomplete on your transcript.
