Two Year University Honors Scholar Program

This program is separate from but linked to the four year program. It is open to a limited number of students each year selected on a competitive basis but has slighlty different requirements. It is designed for

  • Transfer students from community colleges and universities.
  • University of Michigan-Flint students who did not previously participate in the Honors Program.


Eligible students should fill out a formal application. Students accepted into the two year program should then apply for admission into their concentration in the school or department of their choice. Upon completion of the program, students are named Junior/Senior University Honors Program Scholars and have such recorded on their transcripts and diplomas along with departmental and/or school honors.

Prerequisites:

  1. Completion of 55 credits at the University of Michigan-Flint and/or by transfer.

  2. GPA of 3.7 or higher, based on all courses completed in the freshman and
    sophomore years. (Transfer students must present their complete transcripts.)

  3. Completion of at least three quarters of the general education requirements.

  4. Departmental recommendation for acceptance into an honors concentration program.

  5. Approval by the Honors Program Council.
