How is the building staffed?
There are 10 Resident Advisors and 1 Hall Director that will live in the residence hall. In addition there will be a front desk that is staffed 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
What kind of security exists in the building?
All exterior doors will be accessible only with your MCard. Once you enter the building you will need your residence hall key card to access the elevator, wing doors, suite doors and room doors. In case of emergency The Department of Public Safety have officers on duty 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Resident Advisors will also be conducting rounds of the building in the evenings.
What should I do to ensure the security of my property?
You should keep your room locked at all times. Do not leave cash, jewelry or other valuable items in the open. If you notice anything or anyone unusual in the building, please report this immediately to a staff member of the Department of Public Safety. In the event that you are a victim of a theft, please notify a Housing and Residential Life staff member and Department of Public Safety immediately. Click here for tips on keeping your items safe.
Will I have to have my key to enter the building/suite?
The residence hall will be locked 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Residents must use their MCard to access the building through the two main entrances. The living corridors and the elevator will be accessed with the same keycard you use to access your suite and room.
Are there any security cameras?
Security cameras are located on the exterior of the building and in the elevator.
Are there alarms in the building?
There is a fire alert system and alarms on some of the exterior doors that are marked “emergency exit only.”
What is the occupancy of the residence hall?
The residence hall will house 311 people including 10 Resident Advisors and 1 Hall Director.

Who should I call in case of an emergency?
If it is a true emergency you should call 911. If it is a non-emergency situation you should contact UM-Flint Department of Public Safety at (810) 762-3335.
