Welcome to the International Center
The International Center (IC) is a university department that establishes a welcoming atmosphere for all students. We are located on the second floor of the University Center. Our office is home to the English Language Program and international student support services for the UM-Flint campus. Our services extend to active applicants, admitted and current students. The International Center also functions as an informational resource for the Flint community.
International Center Mission:
The mission of the International Center at the University of
Michigan-Flint is to provide services and educational opportunities that
promote international perspectives and experiences for the campus and
surrounding community. We are committed to building, supporting, and
sustaining a culture of global inclusion through intercultural understanding
and caring human connections.
Support services include:
- F-1 Visa support & immigration advising
- Administration of international student health insurance
- Conducting informational workshops on a variety of topics
- Assistance with connecting to other university service
Come to the International Center for help with:
- Overcoming language barriers
- Assistance with cultural adaptation
- Resolving problems with a class or class schedule
- Connecting and integrating the international student body to university and community services and events
For the greater community:
- Issuing of International Student Identity Card (ISIC)
- Programming for any internationallly-minded students, faculty, staff and community members
- Providing faces to connect with distant-seeming places - making the world seem smaller!
The International Center serves students from near and far, as well as the greater community, by taking an active role in the globalization of the UM-Flint campus. The office cosponsors multicultural events such as International Education Week, the Annual Internationalization Summit, International Winter Festival, and the Study Abroad Fair. The Iinternational Center also individually sponsors many student activities and campus programs, as well playing an administrative role in the International Student Organization (ISO).
