The English Language Program (ELP) is an Intensive English Program designed to develop students’ skills in reading, vocabulary, writing, grammar, listening and speaking for academic purposes. Full time ELP students receive 20 hours per week of English and American culture instruction.
Our small class sizes average 15-20 students, providing a learning atmosphere that encourages interaction and student input.
The English courses are taught by dedicated, TESOL trained instructors who have experience teaching and living abroad. In addition to academics, the program offers cultural activities and field trips on and off campus. Students that do not meet the University of Michigan-Flint language proficiency requirement take a language placement exam upon arrival and are placed into the appropriate level English courses. Conditional admission to the University of Michigan-Flint is possible for qualified candidates.
November has been a very busy month in the ELP. We have welcomed our students from Mexico who have been an amazing addition to our classes, campus, and community. We are also celebrating International Education Week (IEW).
