Supporting the Success of International Students
Our International Center is staffed by many former international students who have graduated from UM-Flint, and who bring extensive experience in navigating the transition to the United States. and university life. From understanding admission requirements, to securing the proper documentation, to getting to the United States, to building English skills, to connecting with other students on campus, the International Center is here to support you every step of the way.
Living on or close to campus is a great way to enjoy a genuine university experience and connect with other students. We have two attractive, convenient, and safe housing options to choose from — both steps from classes as well as the energy of downtown Flint and its many restaurants, cafés, and student hangouts .
International students may be eligible to apply for and obtain employment, including on-campus jobs, while attending UM-Flint. We offer a range of employment services to help you qualify, prepare for, and secure employment, including workshops on writing effective résumés and cover letters.
UM-Flint has an active and engaged international community, and regularly hosts programs, workshops, and events of interest to students from around the world. International students build lifelong connections while attending UM-Flint. To support these connections, we keep our international alumni community informed about our campus community, upcoming events and gatherings, recruitment opportunities, cultural events, and developments of their fellow international students.
Forms commonly used by international students can be accessed through iService. Instructions for logging in to iService are emailed to you within 48 hours after your application has been processed. These include forms such as document uploads, deferral request for students who need to delay their start date at UM-Flint, Proof of Financial Support, Transfer In form for students seeking to transfer from another college in the United States, and the third-party pick-up request for students who wish to have their admission packet picked up in the International Center office by another person.
