Are You a UM-Flint Faculty, Staff or Student Traveling Abroad for University-Related Purposes?

University-related purposes may include are not limited to, study, research, internships, service, conferences/presentations, teaching, performances, or athletic competitions. As per the U-M Travel Policy (SPG #601.31), you must:

  1. Register your travel information in the UM Travel Registry (for faculty/staff/and students participating in group programs, this is done for you by the Education Abroad Office)
  2. Have travel abroad insurance coverage from the University's authorized vendor
    • Students traveling independently must purchase University Travel Abroad Health Insurance here

    • Students traveling as part of a group will be enrolled in University Travel Abroad Health Insurance by the Education Abroad Office

    • Faculty and staff traveling internationally for any university-related purpose are covered under the university’s blanket travel abroad health insurance policy. Get information on how to print your insurance card.
