What is Uniprint?

February 2008

Introduction

Uniprint is the system that ITS uses to keep track of student printing in the computer labs on campus. When you print a document in the computer labs, it doesn’t automatically print on the printer at the front of the lab. You must “print” the document from your computer in the lab and then log into the Uniprint station near the printers to release your print job. When you release your print job, the fee for printing is deducted from your print account funds.

I have to pay to print?

Every semester, all registered students are each given $16 worth of printing funds in their Uniprint account. This money is provided from the technology fee paid in tuition by all students every semester. The fee for printing in the labs is low, costing $0.05 per page* for black/white copies and $0.30 per page* for color copies. At these rates, the initial $16 covers all printing costs for the majority of students. However, if you find that you have used all of your initial funds, you can add more money to your account. Any added amount is not covered by the technology fee and will require you to make a payment to the Cashier’s office.

* Note, if printing a double-sided page, each side will be charged accordingly.

How can I add more money to my print account?

If you are registered for the current semester, you may add money to your print account by logging into Student Information Services (SIS). In SIS click on “Personal Information”, click on “My Student Computer Account”, and then select the link to add Uniprint money. Printing funds that you add will be available to use immediately. When you request for additional funds to be added to your Uniprint account, a charge will be made to your university student account. You can pay this bill at the Cashier’s office or pay online with a credit card. Anyone who is not a current student (such as alumni) must visit the ITS office in 207 MSB to add money to their print account.

What if I add too much money?

At the end of the semester, if you added more funds than you used, you will be refunded for all amounts over $2.00. For example: if you add $10 to your account, but only use $5, then a $5 credit will be made to your student account. This refund is made to your university student account and not your Uniprint account. Refunds will not be made for leftover amounts from the initial $16 printing allowance and the remaining funds will not carry over to future semesters.
