Changing Your Ann Arbor and LAN Passwords |

Introduction:This Quicknote is written as a tool to assist University of Michigan-Flint users with changing Ann Arbor and LAN passwords. The temporary, issued passwords when account is created should be immediately changed. Before You Begin: |

The "uniqname" and passwords you have received serve as an access identifier for two different computer systems to which you have access. These are two separate systems that both use your uniqname as the identifier. For more information, please see our What Are All These Passwords For? flyer.
¨ The Local Area Network (LAN) Password is used for accessing, including but not limited to the computers on campus, Blackboard, and email.
¨ The Banner Password is used for accessing student records and databases. Please see Quicknote #31 for assistance in changing your Banner password.
¨ The Ann Arbor Password is sometimes referred to as a "Kerberos" password. This password is used for accessing various web resources from Ann Arbor such as dial-in access from home, changing your U-M Online Directory entry, and some library resources.
The LAN password guidelines require a length of at least 8 characters and enabled password filtering to disallow commonly used passwords. For more the complete policy & guidelines, please see http://www.umflint.edu/its/services/policies.htm.
**Attention: If you type your password incorrectly 5 times, your LAN account will be locked. Please contact the ITS HelpDesk for assistance unlocking your account. Otherwise, your account will automatically unlock in 30 minutes.
1. Go to https://mail.umflint.edu/iisadmpwd/aexp2b.asp.
2. Internet Service Manager will pop up.

Type in your Outlook Account information as follows: ¨ Confirm the Domain field, umflint.edu. ¨ For Uniqname, enter your uniqname. ¨ For Old password, enter your current LAN password. ¨ For New password, enter your new LAN password. ¨ For Confirm new password, retype your new password. 3. Click Ok. A box will pop up if you password was successfully changed. Option 2: Change Password within OutlookWeb.1. Login to Outlook Web and click on Options in the Outlook Shortcut Bar on the left of the screen. 2. Click on Change Password button. 3. The Internet Service Manager will pop up, go to see Option 1, step 2. |

1. Once you have logged in, Click the <Ctrl>, <Alt>, and< Delete> keys at the same time
2. Press the Change Password button in the bottom-left corner.

3. Type in your LAN password information as follows: ¨ Select Flint-NT in the log on to field. ¨ For Old Password, enter your current LAN password and press the <tab> key. ¨ For New password, enter your new password and press the <tab> key. ¨ For Confirm New Password, retype your new Password and press the <enter> key. **Note: For more the complete policy & guidelines, please see http://www.umflint.edu/its/services/policies.htm.. |

1. Students can view their Computer Account online using the Student Information Services (SIS).
2. Login to SIS, click on the Student Services & Financial Aid menu.

Click My Campus Computer Account.
**Note:
The first time you view your account, you will be asked to set your initial LAN
and Kerberos password.
4. Click on Change LAN & Kerberos Password.
5. You will be prompted to enter New password and you will have to confirm it in Confirm New Password. (See image below)

**Note: Your new password must meet all password requirements listed on this page: http://www.umflint.edu/its/helpdesk/security/passwords/dictionary_list.htm as well as containing a MIX of numbers and letters.
6. Click on Change Password.
**Note: Changing your password in this manner will change BOTH your LAN password (used for logging into computers on campus, email, and Blackboard) and your Kerberos/Ann Arbor password (used for dial-up services, accessing Mirlyn, and editing your UMICH directory entry). If you wish to change ONLY your LAN password please follow Option 1, Option 2, or stop by the ITS HelpDesk with a picture ID.
1. Open Internet Explorer.In the address bar, type: https://weblogin.umich.edu/ and press <enter>.
2. At the prompt enter your uniqname and current password and then click the Log in button.
**Note: Type your current Ann Arbor password – it is case-sensitive.
3. Click the link "kpasswd: Change Your Kerberos Password ".
4. In the Current Password field, enter your old Ann Arbor/Kerberos password and press the <Tab> key.
**Note: Passwords should contain a mix of upper and lower case characters and possibly a number(s), and be at least 8 characters long.
5. In the New Password field, enter a new password and press the <Tab> key.
6. Retype the new password in the Retype New Password field and press the <Tab> key.
7. Click Submit. If you enter an acceptable new password the same twice, the password will be changed. **Note: The next time you dial-in or edit your U-M Online Directory entry, you will need to use your new password.
8. Once you have successfully changed your password, you will be asked leave a hint to help you remember your password and to select a challenge option. Enter your hint and your challenge question and answer and click Save and Continue.
9. After you have successfully completed this, click Logout.
