ITS supports numerous computer labs on the UM-Flint campus for both general and instructional use. All registered students, faculty and staff are allowed to use the open computing labs. A valid computer account including a uniqname and LAN (UM-Flint) password are needed to be able to utilize a computer in any of the labs.
ITS currently staffs and maintains three public computer labs available to faculty, staff, and students. The largest public computer lab, located in 206 MSB, is closed during holidays and semester changeover periods only. ITS also maintains open computer stations on all three floors of the Thompson Library. In addition to the open computer labs, ITS also maintains two computer stations for everyone to use in the ITS Technology Center, which include scanning and video editing capabilities.
ITS also maintains six instructional labs which are used for academic instruction. Each instructional lab is equipped with an instructor’s station and a ceiling-mounted projector with a VCR. Please utilize the links below to view information about the resources supported in each lab.
In general classrooms, the Mediated Classroom Services (MCS) unit within ITS supports computing and presentation systems such as Crestron MediaManager Systems, Smart Carts, Mediated Carts, and Mobile Classroom (laptop cart) technology. For more information, please consult www.umflint.edu/mcs.
Please read the ITS Access and Compliance document, designed to acquaint institutional data users at the University of Michigan-Flint with the policies that define and regulate responsible use of information.

The seventy-five (75) Windows 7 workstations on all three floors offer a full set of ITS lab applications. There is also six (6) Mac's. Users may also access the Thompson Library’s homepage and its resources from these computers. Networked printing is located on each floor. These workstations help students make optimum use of both ITS software and library resources—including library staff.
The workstations, located in the center rows of carrels running north-south on each floor, offer considerable privacy, and should prove attractive places for students to work on term papers and other assignments requiring sustained concentration. UM-Flint faculty and staff may also use the workstations.
