  1. Security is Only as Good as its Weakest Link
    • Everyone shares the responsibility of securing information that is entrusted to you to use.
  2. Keep Your Computer Up To Date
    • Make sure your computer operating system is up todate with the latest security patches.
      • On Windows: Enable Automatic Updates
      • On a Mac: Click the Apple in the top left corner.  Click Software Updates.
  3. Be Wary of What you Install
    • Don't install software unless you know you can trust it.
    • If you don't know what it is or don't recognize the company contact the ITS HelpDesk before installing the software.
    • If you have any questions on good software verses bad software contact the ITS HelpDesk for more help in picking the right software for you.
  4. Update your Anti-Virus
    • Don't just run your anti-virus program, keep it up to date!
    • An anti-virus program won't look for the new viruses if it doesn't know that they are there.
      • Updating lets them know what to look for and remove.
  5. Seperate Business and Personal Use
    • Don't use a campus owned computer for your own personal web surfing.
    • Don't do banking, taxes and other personal financial paperwork on a business laptop.
