Awareness Campaign - Computer Security 101
Using Public Computers
When you sign into University resources with your uniqname and LAN password from a shared computer, you can access your grades, class schedules, email and almost everything else important to your academic career. This makes it really important that you log out completely every time you finish your work and are ready to leave—on the wireless, in a computer lab, or in the library. If you don’t log out, the next person who sits down at that computer may have access to all your information.
There are several ways that you can protect your personal information when using a public computer. In addition to logging out after you are finished, you can also clear the browser cache and history file just before you log out. This step will remove any information that the browser may have retained about your recent internet activities.
