Performing Arts

The Performing Arts division supports the curriculum of the Theatre Department, which offers undergraduate degrees in theatre, and is developing a minor program in dance.

Monographs. The Performing Arts collection holds 2431 monographs, which is equivalent to a 3a, and is 164% of the number from the modified ACRL standard (1478). The median publication date of the books in this division is between 1975 and 1979, with 26% published in the last decade.

Acquisitions. The 1997/1998 monographs allocation for the Theatre Department is $2289. Taking a proportional share of librarians' budgets, plus the reference allocation, yields a weighted total of $2774. This is sufficient to buy approximately 78 books at a discounted average price of $35.45 apiece. This amounts to about 12% of the total domestic publishing output for theatre, for an AC rating of 3a.

Periodicals. There are 22 Wilson-indexed periodical titles relating to the performing arts, of which the Library has paper subscriptions to 7 (32%=2b) and web access to 5 more (55% total=3a).
