Flint

How do I find information about things happening in the Flint area?

It depends on what sort of information you're looking for. Demographic data are available on CD-ROMs put out by the U.S. Census Bureau, in County and City Extra, which is found in Documents Reference at HA 203 .C68, as well as other print resources. Ask at the reference desk for more information. There are also some websites that provide statistical information about the Flint area. The Flint Journal is available in print for the last few months, and on microfilm from 1935 to the present. The last week's editions are on the third floor newspaper racks, and previous months' paper copies as well as microfilm copies are in the first floor Microforms Room. There is an index to the Flint Journal on the third floor (Index Table G), which covers the years 1971-1983.

The database Business Dateline provides citations to business stories from local newspapers (including the Flint Journal).

Additionally, you might find some Flint-related stories in the Detroit News (available in microfilm 1982-present or online), or in the Detroit Free Press. The Detroit News Index covers 1982 to the present, and is also available on Index Table G.
