Returning materials to Ann Arbor

Q: Can I return or renew books I borrowed from Ann Arbor without going back there?

A: Materials checked out at any University Library can be returned at any other library in the system. (Exception: Reserve materials must be returned to the lending library.) Books are considered "back in Ann Arbor" the day you hand them to us. Do hand them to us, by the way, and tell us that they go back to Ann Arbor, so we can make sure that you get credit or having returned them.

Circulation desk staff at the lending library can explain specific renewal policies.

  • Harlan Hatcher Graduate Library circulation desk: (734) 764-0400
  • Shapiro Undergraduate Library circulation desk: (734) 764-7490

You can renew books in the following ways:

  • In Mirlyn, login [illustration] using your uniqname and Kerberos (Ann Arbor) password, then click on "My Account," then on "Items Checked Out" [illustration].
  • Go in person to the loan desk of the lending library with your library card.
  • Email your full name, your library card number, and the full title(s) of the book(s) you wish to renew to circulation@umflint.edu
  • Call (810) 762-3400. Please have your library card and the book titles handy when you call.
