Advance to Nurse Practitioner with Both MSN and DNP Degrees

The University of Michigan-Flint’s innovative online BSN to DNP with MSN program empowers you to elevate your nursing career and provide quality patient care as a competent nurse practitioner.

You can start the program as a registered nurse with or without a BSN degree. Once you have completed the MSN portion of the program, you can become a licensed and board-certified nurse practitioner and clinically practice while completing the DNP with as little as 15 additional credits.

The University of Michigan-Flint School of Nursing offers unique learning experiences and pathways for RNs and BSN-prepared nurses who desire to become nurse practitioners. With one application, students can apply to the BSN to DNP with MSN program and be eligible for both MSN and DNP degrees. The program allows a student to obtain a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree as a nurse practitioner in one of four specialty concentrations, to sit for the corresponding board certification exam, and to practice as a nurse practitioner. The student can then continue toward completion of the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree.

Graduate Programs Ambassador

Educational Background: I am a first-generation college student who graduated with my BSN from Oakland University in 2015.
What are some of the best qualities of your program? Some of the best qualities of my program are the flexibility, quality, and eagerness of the professors to help. In my experience, the faculty and Dean of the School of Nursing have a genuine desire to see their students succeed. They are available, approachable, and committed to student growth. The flexibility of the program is key for my home life. While the course load is taxing, it is crucial for my success to be able to tailor some of my studying around work and home life. I have found this balance to be achievable through the structure of the online program.
