University of Michigan - Flint Summer Vocal Academy of Music
Academy Overview
Carrying a tradition of almost thirty years, the University of Michigan-Flint Summer Vocal Music Academy welcomes middle and high school students with musical potential and love for singing, and offers them opportunities for musical enrichment and artistic expression. The Academy presents two separate camps - Junior Academy, for students who have completed grades 5, 6, 7, and 8, and Senior Academy for students who have completed grades 9, 10, 11, and 12. Two-weeks long, each program is designed to engage students in a curriculum that offers various aspects of music study, along with a real time stage performance at the end of each program. Classes are in session Monday through Friday, 8:45 am – 2:45 pm on UM-Flint campus and conclude with a final public concert at the UM-Flint Theater. Our Academy instructors are established music educators and passionate performers who are fully committed to teaching and promoting the art of music and singing on all levels of music education. Academy students are taught in a safe, friendly and creative environment, and enjoy the experience of a college campus while learning about music and art.
