UM-Flint Helps Turn Parking Spaces into Parks

What would happen if many of the Parking spaces in downtown Flint were transformed into beautiful mini parks?

As part of the MY FLINT program, University of Michigan-Flint students will be joined on Friday, September 18 by urban planners, park agencies and community advocates to observe 2009 National Park(ing) Day by transforming the red bricks of Saginaw Street to lush mini parks.

MY FLINT-Getting to Know a City

All colleges offer student orientation as a way for new students to get to know their school. The University of Michigan-Flint Outreach is adding a new community orientation program-a unique way for new and current students, faculty, and staff to better know Flint. Called MY FLINT, the program will kick off with tours of the downtown and local restaurants.

Campus Compact honors UM-Flint faculty member

Michigan Campus Compact (MCC) recently announced that Dr. Heather Laube, assistant professor of Sociology and Women and Gender Studies, will be honored with an MCC Faculty/Staff Community Service-Learning Award, the highest MCC bestows on faculty and staff in the state of Michigan.

CELEBRATING CAMPUS AND COMMUNITY COLLABORATIONS
