Each year, The Myron and Margaret Winegarden Visiting Professorship brings individuals of national and international reputation to the University of Michigan-Flint campus.  This year, Tariq Ali and Christopher Paul Curtis will teach and/or interact with classes, participate in meetings with students and faculty, conduct lectures for students, faculty, staff and the community.
ZaslowJeffrey Zaslow, co-author along with Randy Pausch,
of the bestselling book The Last Lecture, will
meet with and speak to University of Michigan-
Flint students and faculty on Friday, October 17.
The public is also invited to hear Zaslow’s
9a.m. keynote address at the annual Student Academic Success Summit in the Michigan Room at the University Center.
A new UM-Flint logo now marks the intersection of Kearsley and Wallenberg Streets. Two similar logos were placed at the crosswalk from Housing to MSB.
The University of Michigan-Flint First Year Experience class takes a bike tour with Professor Steve Landon to some of Flint's most popular cultural attractions  including the Farmers' Market, Kearsley Park & Whalely Historic House.

An overwhelming number of students at the University of Michigan-Flint say they are satisfied with their overall educational experience. A national survey found that 85% of First Year students reported a favorable image of the university and 83% of seniors who responded would choose UM-Flint again if they could start their college career over.

The University Of Michigan-Flint is proud to announce the successful completion of a three and a half year long public phase of its Capital Campaign "Imagine: The University of Michigan-Flint Difference." Despite challenging economic times, the goal was not only reached, but was exceeded by nearly 10 million dollars.

The Office of the Chancellor and the American Democracy Project (ADP) are celebrating the

Inauguration by sponsoring a teach-in in the Michigan Rooms of University Center. The almost hour and a half event that begins at 10 a.m.will cover the history, purpose, and  function of Presidential Inaugurations, what issues are facing the new administration and the country, and what it means to us all as students, community members, and Americans.

The FOX 66 Green Team announced that the University of Michigan - Flint is the February recipient of the FOX 66 Green Business Award. The Green Business Award is presented to one local business each month for taking strides to make their workplace more eco-friendly. UM-Flint proudly participates in many eco-friendly programs to serve our community and were highlighted for their efforts  during a recent “TV 5 News at 10pm on FOX 66”. The university will continue to receive special recognition through-out February.
American School & University magazine recently selected the University of Michigan-Flint’s renovation of David M. French Hall for “Outstanding Design” recognition in the classrooms category.
The Michigan Concrete Paving Association recently selected the Kearsley Street Reconnect project as the winner of the Special Innovative category of the association’s Awards of Excellence.


The Financial Aid Office of the University of Michigan-Flint will help college-bound students and their families complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid or FAFSA during the College Goal Sunday event on Sunday, February 8, 2009. This year’s location is in the Murchie Science Building Computer Labs from 2-4 p.m.
