The University of Michigan-Flint has been selected as the 2009 Michigan Minority Business Development Council (MMBDC) Education and Government Entities Award. The award was presented at the 26th Annual MMBDC Awards Dinner on September 29 in Detroit. Other finalists in the category were Wayne State University and Michigan State University.
Dr. I. Douglas Moon, who served as the University of Michigan-Flint School of Management dean from January 2003-June 2007 has died at the age of 62. He died Saturday, September 13 at his Flint home.

The University of Michigan-Flint School of Management (SOM) recently signed a memorandum of understanding with the leading Romanian University, Universitatea Alexandru Ioan Cuza (UAIC), to facilitate exchanges and cooperative initiatives with the UM-Flint in areas of instruction, faculty and student exchange, applied research and faculty development
A newly signed articulation agreement could help further internationalize the University of Michigan-Flint campus. The School of Management (SOM) recently signed an agreement with the American College of Dubai (ACD) at the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to facilitate transfer of credits from ACD to UM-Flint. Under this agreement, students can complete up to 33 credits in ACD, and transfer to UM-Flint’s Bachelor of Business Administration program to complete the rest of their business studies.
The University of Michigan-Flint School of Management (SOM) has added another overseas university to its growing list of global academic partners. A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was recently signed with the largest higher education institute, The Bucharest Academy of Economic Studies (ASE or Academia de Studii Economice Bucureşti) in Romanian.
