The Skinny

UM-Flint hosts the second-ever TEDxFlint conference on Saturday, October 22 in the University Center KIVA.

UM-Flint hosts the second-ever TEDxFlint conference on Saturday, October 22 in the University Center KIVA.

TED began in 1984 as a conference to bring individuals together in the areas of Technology, Entertainment, and Design (TED). With the proliferation of new technologies like the Internet and digital media production, TED has come to be known by most for “those 18-minute videos about ‘ideas worth spreading.’”

The ideas TED spreads have expanded well beyond technology, entertainment, and design, as TED itself has expanded well beyond its California roots. The nonprofit has facilitated the organization of localized TED conferences throughout the world under the moniker TEDx.

At this year’s TEDxFlint “speakers with ties to Flint will bring people together from various disciplines to enlighten, inspire, and act upon ideas worth spreading.”
