“Go Red” for Good Health

Flint area women are being offered a FREE health screening at the University of Michigan-Flint. On Monday, February 18, a Health Fair and “Go Red” for women’s heart health luncheon will be held in the Harding Mott University Center from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Flint area women are being offered a FREE health screening at the University of Michigan-Flint. On Monday, February 18, a Health Fair and “Go Red” for women’s heart health luncheon will be held in the Harding Mott University Center from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
The event will offer a range of activities such as free health screenings including blood pressure and blood sugar checks; information about heart health, body fat composition, nutrition, eating disorders, exercise, mental health, sexual health and sexually transmitted infections, health insurance, and stress management. Poster presentations by University of Michigan-Flint students will also be on display.

The “Go Red “for women’s heart health luncheon will be held at noon in the Michigan Rooms. The luncheon will feature a presentation by Carol Joseph, RN, BHA, who is the program administrator at the Genesys Heart Institute.

The “Go Red for Women” campaign was created by the American Heart Association to educate women about the dangers of heart disease and how it can be prevented. The Health Fair and “Go Red” for women heart health luncheon are presented by the Women’s Educational Center (WEC), Urban Health and Wellness Center (UHWC), Nursing Department, Student Nurses Association (SNA), UM-Flint Recreation Center, M-Healthy, and the American Heart Association.
