This year’s Common Read program features Amy Waldman’s novel, “The Submission.” Incoming UM-Flint freshmen have received the book as part of orientation, and all members of the campus and community are invited to read and discuss the book at a variety of events during the academic year.
The 2013-2014 Common Read will officially kick-off with a celebration on September 9 at 3 p.m. in the Frances Willson Thompson Library. A highlight of the upcoming season includes a campus visit by author Amy Waldman on October 9. Waldman will deliver a public lecture at 4:00 p.m. on October 9 in the Happenings Room in the Harding Mott University Center with a book signing to follow.
This is the third year for UM-Flint’s Common Read program, following last year’s read of Rebecca Skloot’s “The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks” and the 2011-12 read of Edwidge Danticat’s “Brother, I’m Dying.”
