Packed House for Debate Watch

The Skinny

A crowd of about 250 accepted the invitation from University of Michigan-Flint to join in watching Mayor Don Williamson and challenger Dayne Walling go head-to-head in a televised debate October 29, just eight days before the November 6 election .

The hour-long debate was televised from WJRT (abc 12) and carried by TV-5, NBC 25 and Michigan Television.

The hour-long debate was televised from WJRT (abc 12) and carried by TV-5, NBC 25 and Michigan Television.

Both Mayor Williamson and Walling were invited to attend following the actual debate to meet the community participants and answer, informally, any questions they may have. Only Walling accepted the invitation.

The event was cosponsored by the Flint Area Public Affairs Debate committee and the American Democracy Project of the university. Questions during the debate were from the public. Jennifer White, station manager for WFUM (Channel 28), was the moderator.
