Could this be the start of athletics at the University of Michigan-Flint? A group of 17 students who love hockey have formed a Hockey Club.
Interim Chancellor Jack Kay showed his support by tossing out the opening puck at a recent game.
While the university can give the Hockey Club some financial support, each member contributes about $250 each month to pay for ice time. The club is affiliated with the American Colligate Hockey Association and will play 26 games this season in Division 2. Almost all of its 14 home games will be held on weekends at Perani Arena and Event Center.
