The Skinny

Opportunities for students to study in Europe are being expanded with the addition of agreements in France and Sweden.

The University of Michigan-Flint School of Management (SOM) already has a long list of agreements with universities around the globe. SOM students have the opportunity to study at schools in the Middle East, Asia, Central Europe and other international locations.

Now, the opportunities for students to study in Europe are being expanded with the addition of agreements in France and Sweden.

“These are student exchange agreements with a university in France—ESCEM in Poitier, France—and the University of Gothenburg in Sweden,” said Yener Kandogan, SOM associate dean and professor of international business. “Our students will be able to study business management courses at these universities for a term at our tuition rates, and transfer these courses back to UM-Flint so they keep making progress towards their degree requirements.”

While there are no French students coming to UM-Flint this year, a few Swedish students will be studying at UM-Flint’s School of Management this fall.

“We will have information sessions for our students on these opportunities in the fall for studying there (Sweden, France) in the winter term,” noted Kandogan.

The School of Management has similar agreements with other European universities in Croatia, Romania and Turkey. Five Croatian students are expected to attend UM-Flint in the fall.
