UM-Flint to Host College Town Mayoral Debate

The University of Michigan-Flint is joining with Mott Community College, Kettering University, and Baker College to the College Town Mayoral Debate.

Do you want to know more about the mayor of Flint or the man who will challenge him in the November election?

The “College Town Mayoral Debate” is an opportunity to not only learn more about their visions for Flint’s future, but to also discuss the debate with fellow voters. The debate will be held Tuesday, October 11, 7 p.m. in the Michigan Rooms, University Center on the UM-Flint campus.The University of Michigan-Flint is joining with Mott Community College, Kettering University, and Baker College to sponsor this community event. A faculty member from each school will participate in the debate.  The event is free and open to the public.

Marcus Paroske, Ph.D.
Department of Communication and Visual Arts
University of Michigan-Flint

Ezekiel Gebissa, Ph.D.
Department of Liberal Studies
Kettering University

Paul Rozycki, professor
Fine Arts and Social Sciences Division
Mott Community College

Michael Rucks, professor
General Education Department
Baker College

Prof. Paroske has agreed to moderate the debate, and Profs. Rozycki, Gebissa, and Rucks will serve on the panel asking questions of Darryl Buchanan and Mayor Dayne Walling.

Following the debate, UM-Flint’s American Democracy Project will hold a post debate discussion with those who attend. Faculty and staff volunteers will help lead the discussions.
