PHHS Student Awards

B.S. in Health Care Administration Student Award

Eligibility Criteria - The student must:

  • Have senior standing and be enrolled in the Bachelor of Science Health Care Administration program at The University of Michigan-Flint.
  • Have completed a minimum of at least 18 credit hours in Health Care Administration with a minimum GPA of 3.5.
  • Have a demonstrated record of service.
  • Have demonstrated excellent leadership skills and modeled professional behavior in and out of the classroom.   

Selection Process

  • Eligible students will be identified by the PHHS department faculty/staff and asked to provide evidence of service and learning activities.
  • The selection committee will consist of at least three faculty members of the Health Sciences and Administration department. 
  • The award will be given each semester in which a worthy student is identified.
  • Students may only receive the award once.
  • Awardees will receive a certificate and be recognized at the SHPS Honors Ceremony.

B.S. in Public Health (formerly Health Education) Student Award

Eligibility Criteria - The student must:

  • Have senior standing and be enrolled in the Bachelor of Science Health Education program at The University of Michigan-Flint.
  • Be a student member of Eta Sigma Gamma.
  • Have completed a minimum of at least 18 credit hours in Health Education with a minimum GPA of 3.5.
  • Have a demonstrated record of service.
  • Have demonstrated excellent leadership skills and modeled professional behavior in and out of the classroom.

  • Have a demonstrated record of service.

Radiation Therapy Student Award

Eligibility Criteria - The student must:

  • Be a graduating senior of the UM Flint Radiation Therapy Program.
  • Possess a minimum Program GPA of 3.5.
  • Have a demonstrated record of community service.
  • Have an excellent record of clinical competency at clinical sites.
  • Have demonstrated excellent leadership skills and modeled professional behavior in and out of the classroom and clinic.

Selection Process

  • Eligible students will be identified by the RT department faculty/staff and asked to provide evidence of service and learning activities.
  • The award will be given each semester in which a worthy student is identified.
  • Students may only receive the award once.
  • Awardees will receive a certificate and be recognized at the Spring SHPS Honors Ceremony.

Clinical Laboratory Sciences/Medical Technology Student Award

Eligibility Criteria - The student must:

  • Have senior standing and be enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science/Medical Technology Program at The University of Michigan-Flint.
  • Have completed a minimum of at least 30 hours in Clinical Laboratory Science/Medical Technology with a minimum GPA of 3.5.
  • Have a demonstrated record of research and service.
  • Have demonstrated professional behavior in and out of the classroom.

Selection Process

  • Eligible students will be identified by the PHHS department faculty/staff and will be asked to provide evidence of service and research activities.
  • The selection committee will consist of the Director of the CLS/MT Program.
  • The award will be given each semester in which an award-worthy student is identified.
  • Students may only receive the award once.
  • The award recipient will receive a certificate and be recognized at the SHPS Honors Ceremony
  • Apply/App deadline end of March/inform of award consideration and request support materials/portfolio
  • Surprise award

HASO Outstanding Student Award

Eligibility Criteria - The student must:

  • Have senior standing and be enrolled in the Bachelor of Science Health Care Administration program at The University of Michigan-Flint.
  • Be a student member of the Healthcare Administration Student Organization.
  • Have completed a minimum of at least 18 credit hours in Health Care Administration with a minimum GPA of 3.5.
  • Have a demonstrated record of service.
  • Have demonstrated excellent leadership skills and modeled professional behavior in and out of the classroom.
