The Chance to Succeed (ACTS) Mentoring Program is reflective of the Department of Nursing’s commitment to professional nursing.  ACTS is supported in part by a HRSA* grant – University of Michigan-Flint Initiatives for Nursing Diversity (UM-FIND).  Through the mentoring program, pre-nursing and nursing students are matched with professional registered nurses to provide support, guidance, and encouragement to achieve their personal and professional goals. 


The mission of the ACTS Nursing Mentoring Program is to recruit and retain nursing students at the University of Michigan-Flint.  Objectives include: assisting students with system barriers; providing counseling/advising specific to the nursing program; addressing minority student’s issues related to lack of trust/racism, fear, and negative perceptions of the nursing program; and clarifying information.
Mentoring can be a rewarding experience for both mentors and students participating in the program (mentees).  More detailed information about the ACTS Mentoring Program can be obtained by accessing the links on this page.
