About the RN to BSN Nursing Program:

1. Where do I start?

UM-Flint has a revolving admission policy and you may be admitted for Fall, Winter, Spring or Summer. You can apply online to the University online at www.umflint.edu/admissions/

There is not a separate application required for the RN to BSN program

2. How long are your semesters?

Fall & Winter semesters are 14 weeks each. Spring and summer semesters are both seven weeks.

3. How many credits transfer to UM-Flint?

The Office of Admissions will review your previous transcripts to determine your transfer credit. There is not a limit on the number of credits that you can transfer, however, the University of Michigan-Flint has a 45 credit hour residency requirement to be granted a Bachelors degree.

4. Can I start before I have my license?

Yes you can! You may begin to complete general education and Nursing Foundation courses prior to gaining licensure. Enrollment into the Nursing Core courses is not allowed until proof of licensure has been verified. Contact an advisor if you have questions about this.

5. Can I test out of any Nursing coursework?

Yes you can! Credit by examination (CBE) is available for NSC 210 Pathophysiology for RNs, NSC 209 Nutrition, and NSC 235 Pharmacology for RNs. These courses are also available in the classroom and online. There is an exam fee required to attempt one of these exams. We will provide you a study guide to help you prepare. Contact an advisor for more information

6. Is this program available online?

Yes it is! All program required coursework can be completed online. There are certain courses in the RN to BSN program that are only available online but most classes could also be taken in person if you choose. This program is designed for the working professional that seeks to further their education with a BSN. Many general education courses are available online too.
